Don’t miss the chance to learn how a street show is born!

Kulturanova presents Pudding théâtre, a theater group that has been creating street plays for seventeen years. What do they say about it?

“What we are interested in is telling stories. We tell the stories by applying tools used in theater, but outside, in the public space. The theater we create is not engaged or political, but rather civic theater.”  The project Geopolis which will be the result of artistic residencies in Novi Sad, Podgorica, and Skopje, tells the story of seven people and their lives, caught in the whirlwind of global trends. After two years of reflection and searching for funding, the project has finally taken on shape, with Kulturanova as the partner organization in Serbia.

“Apart from migratory flows, we are fascinated by discovering how human these characters are. This is why we decided to create a fictional country, with its specific geography, customs, riches, and language, of course.” “Open rehearsals abroad are part of the creative process through which Géopolis is made. They enable us to check if the language we have created is effective and if our show, which could not even exist without the audience, really works.

In Novi Sad, the rehearsals will take place from September 26-28, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., and from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 pm, on the Vojvodina Falconry Club field (Ilije Ognjanovića Street). All the passersby are welcome to stop, see what we are doing, and talk to us. The interaction with the audience means a lot to us, and it is our modus operandi, giving us the opportunity to question the validity of our hypotheses. We are thrilled to be in Novi Sad and meet its people – this is the beginning of a wonderful adventure!”

PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT: the Falconry Club field, September 28, 7 p.m.

INTERACTION WITH THE AUDIENCE: Kosmosapiens Club (the alleyway next to Hotel Vojvodina), September 29, 7 p.m.

This program is supported by the French Institute as part of the Teatroskop project, in collaboration with Kulturanova.
