A team of theater artists from America and Serbia invites you to five-day community theater workshops designed to unleash and develop your creative skills. Some of the topics we will deal with during the workshops are: prejudice, community coexistence, identity, language, religion, sex, shame, acceptance, frustration, (mis)understanding, human rights, respect, etc.

Artists from the theater troupe "Hand to Mouth" from the USA, with many years of experience in creating plays based on work with different local communities, will lead these workshops together with Novi Sad theater artists. Their shared experience will give you an insight into the latest achievements of socially engaged artistic practices.

This theatrical, musical and storytelling experience aims to unite the community through story sharing, with a focus on social inclusion. We believe that all future participants in these workshops have a unique voice and an important view of the world, with many stories to gather and share. The workshop will open up opportunities for you to share aspects from your own life, through storytelling, creative improvisations with others and connecting with your own communities to find stories and details that represent meaningful sources for artistic creation. Participants will be asked to speak publicly, share their writings and ideas, participate in movement exercises, and be playful and creative.

With the aim of overcoming social prejudices and increasing the visibility of marginalized and minority groups, we encourage everyone who feels that they do not have enough space in our society to have their voices heard to apply.

Previous theatrical experience is not required, but people with experience of working or studying in the fields of performance, music, film, theater, dance, stage design, etc., are strongly encouraged to apply. The language of the workshop will be Serbian (simultaneous translation of any English instruction). Understanding of English is not necessary.

Workshops are free.
